Hullo Honeys!

How are you?

I finally 'took a grip of my neck' as we Finns say, and collected my pics from our Germany trip here. First of all I want to add something to the packing tips -what I forgot to add there and forgot to take with me- AN EXTRA CAMERA BATTERY/ CHARGER. Yep, I left them home, so of course my camera died on the first day. So all the pics after the Japanese garden are taken with my phone, luckily I had atleast that with me.

But yeah, like I said before, the trip wasn't at all what I expected! I knew that we'd first go to Leverkusen and then to Mosel, but I thought that Leverkusen was only a Bayer city -it has a huge factory and office buildings of theirs, but like the pic above and below can tell, it wasn't Just that- and Mosel sounded like a really dumb place. Haha good attitude I know, but I got proven wrong as the pessimistic thoughts usually do. I also thought that since it was me traveling with my parents, we'd visit every single wine yard there is in the area (which was a lot!), but we went to only one, and it was a beautiful place! 

After Leverkusen (which is a small town by Rhine) and visiting Köln with my dad while mom was working, we stayed in a village called Cochem by the Mosel. We also visited other cities by the same river, but Cochem was my favorite.  It was small but it was wonderful! It had a beautiful castle -which we didn't get to visit this time though- and all the buikdings ans restauranst and the river were beautiful! I did use my jogging clothes since I had the motivation because I didn't want to carry useless cothes, and it was one of the loveliest runs I've taken!

Mitä kuuluu?

Otin itseäni vihdoinkin niskasta kiinni ja kokosin tänne kuvia Saksan reissultamme. Ekaksi vielä muistutus  mitä unohdin pakkauspostaukseen laittaa - ja samalla sitten matkalaukkuun- KAMERAN VARA-AKKU/LATURI. Jep, sehän jäi sitten multa kotiin ja akku loppui tietysti ekana päivänä, Japanilaisen puutarhan jälkeen kaikki kuvat ovat siis kännykällä otettuja.. Mutta onneksi oli kännykkä!

 Niin kuin jo mainitsinkin, matka oli ihan erilainen kuin kuvittelin! Tiesin että kohteena oli Leverkusen ja joku kylä Moselin varrella, mutta enpä oisi kuvitellut niitä puoliksikaan niin ihaniksi paikoiksi kuin mitä oli! Leverkusen on Bayer-tehdas-kaupunki juu, mutta sinne mahtui myös ihania taloja ja muuta mukavaa, ja Mosel oli älytttömän kaunis! Kävimme iskän kanssa äidin tehdessä töitä myös Kölnissä, mikä todellakin oli käymisen arvoinen. Kiersimme Moselin varrella muutamia kaupunkeja, mutta suosikkini niistä oli Cochem, jossa yövyimme kaksi yötä. Cochem oli pieni mutta suloinen ja kaunis kylä! Tuli käytettyä lenkkeilyvaatteitakin kun ne siellä matkalaukussa painosti, ja onneksi tuli sillä se oli ehkä yksi kauneimmista lenkeistä mitä olen juossut! Ja viinitiloja, joita luulin että kiertäisimme joka ikisen vapaan minuutin, emme nähneetkään lähempää kuin yhden, ja kyseisen paikan shampanja terassilta oli kaunis maisema!

small warning; atleast we didn't get inside more than the first square and it seemed like we'd have to go for a tour which are arranged only a couple times a day if we wanted to see more. we took the tourist train which was a good idea, because that way we saw a lot and got to our another destinations, the chocolate museum. otimme turistijunan, mikä osoittui hyväksi ideaksi sillä sitä kautta näki Kölnistä paljon ja pääsimme samalla kyydillä seuraavaan kohteeseemme, suklaamuseoon.

we also got to design our own chocolates and buy them after and 45 minutes preparing - saimme myös suunnitella (maksoi erikseen) omat suklaamme, jotka saimme mukaamme noin 45 minuutin valmistuksen jälkeen

TALLY WEiJL SHOPPING LIST

You know how after a holiday week you just wish you had one more? That's exactly what it felt like when going back to school.. But seeing friends there is great, so there's a good side about everything, right!

Now it feels like the fall break was ages ago, even thought it's just been three days. Our trip to Germany went well and it wasn't at all what I excpected, more about that later! But to say something, we visited for example Cologne. It was a lovely town and the church was gorgeous and the chocolate museum definitely worth seeing (more about that also later) and the shopping street was great. Except, that I had time there only five minutes. Sigh. Those five minutes I spent at TALLY WEiJL, a store where I had some great clothes from (which I can't actually even remember at the moment, a tee? A dress?) and a store what we don't have here up North. And I had the right feeling about it, it was a lovely store! There's something for everyone - so don't turn away right after seeing the store window- and the prices are lower than in H&M. So, a heaven in other words! 

Buuut -I wish I didn't have to say so- I didn't have enough time to buy or even try anything. Yep. Nothing. It is a good thing as well, because that means that I've kept my shopping strike (don't buy anything you don't ACTUALLY need) for pretty long already. But still TW bothered my mind, so I went to their online store and had to make this collection of some of my favorite pieces from them. They're all something that I'd love to put in my closet right at the moment, and something that I'd love to wear at the autumny moment. There's sooo much more I'd like to have put in the collection as well, but here's what I eventually chose:

Tiiättehän sen tunteen kun loman lopussa aina haluaa vaan toisen viikon? Todellain koettu viime sunnuntaina. Mutta koulussa on kyllä ihana nähdä kavereita, joten hyvä puoli kaikessa eikö vaan!

Nyt tuntuu että syysloma oisi ollut ikuisuus sitten, vaikka oikeasti onkin kulunut vasta kolme päivää. Saksan reissumme meni hyvin, oli tosi erilainen kuin luulin! Lisää siitä myöhemmin! Sen verran kuitenkin sanon, että kävimme mm. Kölnissä. Se oli ihana kaupunki, tuomiokirkko upea, suklaamuseo tosiaan käymisen arvoinen ja ostoskatu oli oikein ilo silmälle! Harmi vaan että - en haluisi joutua sanomaan tätä- mulla oli aikaa kierrellä siellä vain 5 minuuttia. Nyyh. Tosin, tästä oli se hyvä puoli, että shoppailulakkoni (ei osteta mitään mitä ei oikeasti tarvita!) on nyt kestänyt jo melko pitkään!

Kyseiset 5 minuuttia vietin TALLY WEiJL:ssä, koska mulla oli muistikuva että sieltä oli munkin kaapissa jotain tosi kivoja vaatteita ja sitähän ei täältä pohjolasta löydy. En kerennyt ostamaan tai edes sovittamaan mitään, joten sen verran jäi kaihertamaan mieltä että päädyin heidän nettisivuilleen, ja päädyin tekemään tällaisen kokoelman joistakin lemppareistani. Valittavana oisi ollut vaikka mitä, mutta tässä mihin lopulta päädyin:

packing tips

I'm off to Germany tomorrow! I'm going to Dusseldorf for three days with my parents. We're leaving early in the morning so I had to do all the packing now (usually I'd be packing just minutes before leaving..). I always try to pack as light as possible, which leaves out the option of packing everything what I maybe might need. Here's what's inside my trolley this time:

Lähden huomenna Saksaan! Menen vanhempieni kanssa Dusseldorffiin kolmeksi päiväksi. Lähtö on aikasin aamulla joten pakkaaminen piti hoitaa jo nyt (yleensä oisin matkalaukun kimpussa vielä minuutteja ennen lähtöä..). Yritän aina pakata mahdollisimman kevyesti, joten en harmi kyllä voi pakata mukaan kaikkia vaihtoehtoja mitä ehkä saattaisin tarvita. Tässä mitä trolleystä löytyy tällä kertaa:

- 4 basic tees/shirts (always pack one extra shirt! Try to choose comfy and simple ones but only those which you like, the trip wouldn't feel half as nice if you'd have to worry about your bad clothing day all the time. Also try to check that your shirts go with your trousers and shoes as well!)

- 4 perus paitaa (aina yksi ylimääränen mukaan! Valkkaa mukavat ja yksinkertaiset mutta jotkin sellaiset mistä tykkäät, matka ei tunnu puoliksikaan yhtä kivalta jos koko ajan joudut harmittelemaan huonoa vaatepäivää. Ja muista vähän kattoa käykö paidat housujen ja kenkien kanssa yhteen niin!)

- 2 pairs of jeans and sport clothes (always have atleast two pairs of trousers - you don't want to spend the whole trip in the jeans you spilled coffee on on the plane -, and sport clothes for the extra time - you can't use the excuse of not having clothes with you, plus a run in town is a good way of seeing around!If you want to save space, choose running tricots instead of sweatpants.)

- 2 paria farkkuja ja urheiluvaatteet (ota aina vähintään kahdet housut mukaan -et halua olla koko reissua niissä farkuissa joille kaadoit kahvia lentokoneessa- , ja urheiluvaatteet on hyvä olla ylimäärästä aikaa varten - et voi ainakaan käyttää tekosyynä sitä että vaatteet jäi kotiin, ja sitä paitsi lenkki kaupungilla on hyvä tapa tutustua paikkaan! Jos haluat säästää tilaa, niin pakkaa kollareitten sijaan juoksutrikoot.)

 

- a cardigan and a little black dress ( a cardigan is always good for the chilly evenings, and remember to also take it on the plane! An lbd doesn't take much space and is a great thing to pack just in case, if you happen to book a dinner in a not-so-casual-restaurant you don't want to be there in your pj's. It's also a great hoice because as we all know, lbd can be worn in 100 different ways, also at day time)

- villatakki ja pikkumusta ( villatakki on aina hyvä viileitä iltoja varten, ja hyvä olla myös koneessa mukana! Pikkumusta ei vie paljoa tilaa ja on hyvä pakata varalta mukaan, jos satuttekin varaamaan illallisen julavasta ravintolasta et varmaankaan halua istua siellä yökkäreissä. Se on hyvä valinta myös siksi, että kuten me kaikki tiedetään, pikkumustaa voi käyttää noin 100 eri tavalla, myös päiväsaikaan)

- bikinis, trainers, ballerinas and a plastic bag to pack the shoes into (I have my bikinis with me because there's a bath tub in our room or something like that I'm not even sure why I was told to take them with me but I don't mind, they don't take almost any space and I'd much rather have them as extra than curse at not having one and then missing my chance at the spa - okay not going to happen this time, but I've been there done that. Trainers go with the same explanation as sport clothes, and ballerinas the same with lbd. Good for a bit more fancy look, another pair of walking shoes -if they're comfortable enough- but can be worn with almost anything -do not combine with sweatpants, please.)

- bikinit, lenkkarit, ballerinat ja muovipussi johon pakata kengät (bikinit on mukana koska meidän huoneessa on kuulemma kylpyamme tai jotakin? En ole edes varma miksi mua käskettiin ottamaan ne varalta mukaan mutta eipä paljoa haittaa, ne eivät vie melkeen yhtään tilaa ja paljon mieluummin kannan ne ylimääräsinä mukaan kuin menettäisin päivän kylpylässä niiden puuttumisen takia - kylpylä ei ole kyllä tän matkan suunnitelmissa mutta kuitenkin on tuttu kokemus. Lenkkarit on mukana samasta syystä kuin urheiluvaatteet ja ballerinat samasta kuin pikkumusta. Hyvät vähän juhlavamman asun luomiseksi, toinen kävelykenkä pari - JOS on tarpeeksi mukavat- ja käy melkeen kaiken kanssa - älä yhdistä lökäreitten kanssa, kiitos.)

- a parfume (Beyonce, Heat) , nailpolish (Bikbok), mascara ( Loreal telescopic), eyebrow fix (Lumene), beautywipes (Primark) , the toothbrush etc. bag (Vera Bradley), hairties and PHONE & CHARGER (parfume is always good to carry with, then there's my basic make up, and the nailpolish is the same color I have on at the moment - that way I can fix my nails by just painting on top of the old layer without having to carry nailpolish remover with me. Beautywipes are perfet for trips beause they remove make up and clean your skin so you don't have to take two/three bottles and cottonthingys with you. About the toth brush etc. bag,  try to find one with plastic covered inside so you don't have to worry about getting your shampoos all over your bag. About hairties,charger & phone I'll just say that double check that you have them!)

- hajuvesi (Beyonce, Heat), kynsilakka (Bikbok), ripsari (Loreal telescopic), kulmageeli (Lumene), beautywipes (Primark), hammasharja yms-pussi (Vera Bradley), ponnareita ja PUHELIN & LATURI (hajuvesi on aina kiva olla mukana, samoin omat perusmeikit, ja kynsilakka on samaa sävyä kuin mitä on nyt kynsissä - sillä tapaa voi korjata kynnet vaan lakkaamalla edellisen kerroksen päälle ja säästyn kynsilakan poistoaineen kanniskelulta. Beautywipesit on täydellisiä matkalla koska ne sekä poistaa meikin että puhdistaa ihon, joten ei travitse raahata kahta/kolmea pulloa ja vanulappuja mukana. Hammasharja yms. pussista sen verran, että (ensinnäkin millä nimellä sitä kustutaan? Ei meikkipussi? Ei pesupussi? Toileittipussi?) valitse mieluusti sellainen jossa on muovinen sisäpinta, jotta ei tarvitse murehtia laukussa ympäriinsä levinneestä shampoosta. Ponnareista, laturista ja puhelimesta vaan se, että muista tarkistaa niiden mukana olo!)

- books to read, travel diary, pen, gum, lipbalm, pinns, tissues, painkillers, wallet, passport (the case is a birthday present from my sister) and hair brush + I do have my phone in my handbag and also earphones (I love reading so that's the reason for the amount of books. Also I don't know just how bored I'll be while my parents are checking out vineyards.. I write travel diary and I really recommend it! It'd great to read about your trips in Italy when you were six. (I have to also mention my pen: it has six different colors so if one dries I can use the others, so I dn't have to take any other pens with me) I couldn't survive without gum and lipbalm and tissues and hairbrush (my compact Tnagle teezer is great for carrying around, it doesn't get ruined). I always carry pins and painkillers just in case and my trip obviously wouldn't happen without my passport and wallet. (again: DOUBLECHECK!)

- kirjoja luettavaksi, matkapäiväkirja, kynä, purkkaa, huulirasva, pinnejä, nenäliinoja, särkylääkkeitä, lompakko, passi ja harja + se kännykkä tosiaan löytyy ennemminkin täältä kuin hammasharjan seurasta ja kuulokkeet sieltä mistä kännykkä ( rakastan lukemista joten se selittää kirjojen määrän, ja lisäsyynä on se etten tiedä kuinka paljon joudun välttelemään tylsistymistä kun vanhemmat kiertelee viinitarhoja..Kirjotan aina matkoilla matkapäiväkirjaa ja todellakin suosittelen! On ihanaa luka jälkikäteen Italian reissusta silln 6-vuotiaana. (pakko mainita myös tuo kynä: siinä on 6 väriä joten jos yksi kuivuu voin vaan käyttää seuraavaa, enkä joudu ottamaan muita kyniä varalta mukaan!) En selviäisi ilman purkkaa ja huulirasvaa ja nenäliinoja ja harjaa (tämä 'pakattava' tangle teezer on lisäksi hyvä kannettavaksi - sen piikit ei mene laukussa pilalle). Pidän aina varalta pinnejä ja särkylääkettä mukana ja matkasta ei selvästikään tulisi mitään ilman passia ja lompakkoa. (muista: TUPLATARKISTUS!)

6 places you hadn't thought about going to

Hope you've had a lovely week!

I've been scrolling trough all my photos. There are about 20 000 of them and all the time more and more come out of nowhere, so it's a never ending job! But it is a nice job, they bring up many lovely memories!

Most of the photos are taken from our travels. They gave me an idea to share my experiences from the places I've been to and the things that I've seen. I hope you like these travel-themed posts and find them useful. Atleast I've lately found all kinds of travel blogs really useful when looking for information about other coutries - you find a lot more information and it's a lot more personal! My favorites at the moment are World of Wanderlust and Guten Blog Y'all, remember to check them out! I wanted to start this wanderlusting with making a list of places which are not so well known, but definitely should be. So here it goes:

Toivottavasti teillä oli ihana viikko!
Olen selaillut kaikkia kuviani läpi. Niitä on noin 20 000 ja lisää tulee koko ajan jostain esiin, tuntuu että ne ei lopu ikinä! Mutta tosi mieluistahan hommaa se on, tulee ihania muistoja mieleen kaikista!
Suurin osa kuvista on matkoilta otettu. Ne sai mut ajattelemaan että oisi ihanaa jakaa teidän kanssa mun kokemuksia ja mielipiteitä paikoista joissa olen ollut ja asioista joita olen nähnyt. Toivottavasti ne on teillekkin mieluisia lukea ja niistä oisi jotain hyötyä! Itse ainakin olen koko ajan enemmän ja enemmän innostunut matkustusblogeista, niistä löytää niin paljon enemmän tietoa ja se tieto on paljon persoonallisempaa. Omia lemppareitani on tällä hetkellä World of Wanderlust ja Guten Blog Y'all, käykää vilkasemassa!
Päätin aloittaa tämän kaukokaipuustani postaamisen teemällä listan paikoista jotka eivät ole kovin suosittuja turistikohteita, mutta ansaitsisi parikin pykälää korkeamman sijoituksen matkakohdelistalla:

Gorge du Verdon, France

Gorge Du Verdon is a small lake in Southern France. The water is clear and turquoise and since the lake's not big, the water is also really warm. There are many activities that you can do here: you can rent a canoe or a pedal boat with a slide or just swim or enjoy at the beach. There are also a few lunch places (you can't really call them restaurants) and kiosks. You do get everything you need from there, but don't hold your hopes too high. The food doesn't matter though, because the nature is gorgeous. There's a beautiful canal between the rocks, small waterfalls and cliffs where you an jump from. I didn't go that far since I skipped the renting, but instead I swam to the other side of the lake - which wasn't too far, and over there you feel like you could swim forever. Just take a waterproof camera with you! I'd lo ve to go there again, I still have the waterfalls and cliff jumping on my bucketlist!

Heidelberg, Germany

 

This is atually getting more famous, and for a reason. As you can see, Heidelberg is gorgeous. It's a town in Southern Germany, mostly known for it's University and the Heidelberg castle -definitely worth seeing! The town is beautiful and full of culture And shops And restaurants. You'll find pretty much everything you're looking for from the shopping street and you'll have a lovely day walking around the cute little and not so little streets.

Neidenstein, Germany

So when you're already in Heidelberg, don't miss the chance of going to Neidenstein - it's a village next to Heidelberg. My German friend, Ani, is from there so that's how I got to know this beautiful place. If you can, visit the place during their village celbration, which is in October (but no, it's not October fest). On top of a hill there is a lovely small castle  where you can see this great view over the village and the magical-looking garden yard of the castle.

Budapest & Lake Balaton, Hungary

Hungary is way underrestimated as a tourist destination. Budapest is rather known (for a reason: it's beautiful, rich of culture plus a great place for shopping) but lake Balaton should get some of the fame as well. The water's turquoise blue and not salty, and the view with all the sailboats is amazing. The lake is located about couple hours away from Budabest, but you should take the time and find a bus or some vehicle to see this gorgeous lake of Hungary.

Eskişehir, Turkey

I ended up in here on a a school trip (I made a post about my trip in my older blog) and had a great week. They only problem was that finding postcards was almost impossible! It's about 4 hours away from Ankara and it's located in the inland so it isn't a popular tourist destination, but that's also a part of the reason why it is so likeable. You can really see Turkish culture over there, except that I have say that it is pretty western place these days.

Eskisehir has a lot of things to see: the old town with it's colorful houses, the market place, the mosques, all these gorgeous bridges, lots of good restaurants, a lovely shopping street with many small and cheap clothing stores and a few huge shopping centers.

Helsinki, Finland 

 

Okay, I had to put this here. NOT just because I live in Finland and I love Helsinki, but because it is a wonderful and interesting town. It's lovely in the spring and summer, beautiful in the Fall when all the leaves have turned orange and red, and magical at Christmas time. Some most famous monuments in Helsinki are the Temppelinaukion kirkko (the ''rock church''), Kauppatori (market place), Kauppahalli (market hall) and Tuomiokirkko (cathedral), Esplanadi (the main street just next to the harbor). Also the town hall as well as the presidents castle are located by Esplanadi, so almost everything is packed in this small area. If you go a bit further, you'll see lots of other beautiful streets which are sights just by them selves. The architeture is old and beautiful. About shopping I do have to warn you, there are many shopping malls and a shopping street but the prices are pretty high!

 P.S. Exchange year update: It seems that after all I'm going to Latin America! I'm so excited that I feel like sitting infront of the mailbox until the confirmation letter comes from YFU! (yes the plans have changed a lot and yes there is a lot more to tell, later ;)

Just today talked about my beginning-hullo with my friend and I didn't actually know what for I keep using it, I think it's just 'cause I like it and it's a little weird in a good way, which is always good!

We had a small cake party today with my old (and atm) classmates. It was so much fun, as always with these favourite girls! One of us brought Red Velvet cake which was sooo delicious, another one brought mudcake, one brought candies and two took care of cookies. So as it sounds, yummy!

We also baked a cake at my place. It didn't turn out like it was supposed to be, but it looked pretty/funny and tasted good enough and atleast was an experiment!

 Yesterday we had a 'sauna night' a my friend's place, we went to their hot thub and their sauna by the lake, had so much fun also then! You know, we so often forget to appreciate the people around us. I hope that you my dear friends know I love you, and you over there I want to thank you for reading this far!

Hullo honeys!

I'm feeling like a winner - the first exam week is now over! 

I found these old outfit pics from the spring. This is an outfit what I could be wearing also at the moment (especially sunglasses! It's really sunny but I keep forgetting them home..) , except that I sold the leather jacket. I had it for 4-5 years! So it really served me well.

I guess you all know Primark? It's a heaven for budjet shopping! I got this bag from Primark in Cartagena, Spain, and even thought it's just a basic fabric bag it's one of my favorite items. Do you have any special favorites in your wardrobes?

Nyt on voittajafiilis - eka koeviikko ohi!

Löysin vanhoja asukuvia. Tällänen asu voisi olla nytkin päällä (varsinkin aurinkolasit! Ihanaa kun on näin aurinkoista, pitäis vaan muistaa ottaa aurinkolasit aamupakkasella mukaan!), paitsi etä tämän nahkatakin laitoin kirpparille. Käytin sitä 4-5 vuotta eli hyvin palveli!

Tiiätte varmaankin Primarkin? Se on oikea taivas budjettishoppailulle! Löysin tämän kangaskassin Cartagenan (Espanja) Primarkista ja vaikka se onkin vain perus kangaskassi, se on yksi lempi asusteistani! Löytyykö teiltä mitään erityisiä lemppareita?
